Abstract: This paper reviewed the effect of Salvianolic acid-B (Sal B) on toxicity of amyloid β-protein (Aβ), tau protein and PC12 cells and SH-SY5Y cells apoptosis induced by Aβand tau protein, and on neurogenesis and angiogenesis. The results showed that Sal B could decrease the toxicity of Aβ by inhibiting Aβ aggregation and fibril formation, and protect cells damaged by Aβ.Hyperphosphoylation of tau protein could be attenuated by Sal B.Sal B has also been proved to promote neurogenesis and angiogenesis.Based on the neuroprotective effect of Sal B, it may be a potential medicine for treatment of neurodegenerative disease.
