Abstract: As a major regulator of dephosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) which are importantsignal transduction pathways in organisms, mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase-1(MKP-1) plays a crucial role in
various biological systems, including nervous system. This paper summarized the biological activity, regulation, new results and progress of MKP-1 in recent years, with a focus on the central nervous system. We proposed that MKP-1 is a drug target for future pharmacological research.
