Abstract:

Autophagy is often described as a double-edged sword in diseases. Strategies utilizing autophagy either for activating or inhibiting it could find a broad application for innovative treatment. Some of the bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) have been found to be causative factors for certain human disease, while others have been shown to have a strong association with other diseases. Whether there are some associations between autophagy and BMPs expression in the same disease such as neurodegeneration remains to be investigated. In this brief review,we summarized autophagy in different conditions and BMPs expression in the same conditions respectively in order to discover some associations between autophagy and BMPs expression. Some associations are found in signaling pathway of both autophay and BMPs.

Key words: autophay, bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), Wnt, Notch
