Abstract:

Stroke is a common disease with high incidence, mortality and disability, which poses a huge threat to human life, social economy, and medical resources. Ischemic stroke patients account for 80% of stroke patients, and reperfusion after ischemia induces more intense nerve damage, including excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response. Among them, oxidative stress is one of the most critical causes of injury. China’s natural products are rich in resources, and traditional medicine has a long history and rich experience. It has unique advantages in researching and developing high-efficiency,low-toxic,safe and inexpensive natural products from natural resources, which has improve ischemic stroke at home and abroad. The level of treatment has important medical value. In this paper, natural compounds such as butylphthalide, salvianolic acid, and protocatechuic aldehyde are reviewed. The mechanism of action of these compounds in the treatment of ischemic stroke is related to its antioxidant activity.
